For standard California registrations, Clean Truck Check deadlines follow your registration expiration, not the last time you tested. Out-of-state and exempt-plate vehicles use a VIN-based schedule. Answer the three questions below and you’ll see your likely window and which test your truck needs. Nothing to sign up for.
Send a photo of your registration and we’ll confirm what’s due, what each truck needs, and what it costs. For a fleet, your CARB portal vehicle list works too. No charge, nothing to sign. English or Spanish.
Call or text 530-378-9111Already tested but DMV still has a hold? Here are the three steps CARB needs — the compliance fee is usually the missing one.
This is an estimate based on how CARB sets compliance deadlines. For California-registered vehicles, deadlines follow the DMV registration expiration date and recur every six months. For vehicles registered elsewhere, deadlines are based on the last digit of the VIN, which this tool cannot determine. Passing tests may be submitted no more than 90 days before a deadline. Beginning October 2027, OBD-equipped vehicles move to four tests per year; non-commercial motorhomes and qualifying agricultural vehicles remain on an annual schedule. Your vehicle’s actual deadlines are in your CTC-VIS account and that is the only authoritative source.
Drop your email and we'll send compliance heads-ups and let you know when we're testing in your area — so you can plan testing before your deadlines. English or Spanish. No spam, unsubscribe anytime.
